PersonalityChitradurga's seven-walled fort was the stronghold of the Nayakas. When Hyder Ali's soldiers tried to slip in through a crack in the rocks, Obavva, a guard's wife, struck them down one by one with a pestle (onake). She is celebrated as Onake Obavva.
